Registration in Quebec?
Hello all - I see that someone tried this question back in the summer with no responses, but I'm trying again.
We're taking our Delica back this summer from Japan. I'll be working in Ottawa but living on the Quebec side, so it will have to be registered there. Has anyone been through this before in Quebec? I do have a friend who managed it very easily on the Ottawa side (with a Pajero) but that's not much help now!
Grateful for any information,
Ian.

Re: Registration in Quebec?
Once you've registered yours, will you report back to the forum?
I have a suspicion you might be the first, or very nearly one of the first.

Hi there,
Lost1 has a Delica in Matane, Quebec, he might be able to help you, although I haven't seen him on the forum for a while. All the same, give him a PM.
Bonne chance!

Re: Registration in Quebec?
Hi,i'm from Quebec city,PQ
Sorry,i will reply in french because my english is not very good.
J'ai fait l'achat l'automne dernier d'un Mitsubishi Strada rouge en Colombie-Britannique.Acquit de Silk road autos.Très satisfait de mon pickup.I LOVE IT!

Re: Registration in Quebec?
I just bought a '93 SuperExceed directly from Japan for my brother who lives in Montreal. It left Japan today so all this information is very useful! For the benefit of the forum I'll give you the un-official translation of Strada 92. Here we go:
"I bought a Mitsu Strada last fall from Silk Road Auto in BC. Very satisfied of my truck! To get Quebec registration I had to pass a provincial inspection from the SAAQ (similar to ICBC) in a accredited garage. For myself, it wan't a Canadian Tire but a CAA garage. After a few minor repairs they provided me with the appropriate papers and put a sticker on my windshield attesting that this vehicle was legal. The inspection cost was about $100.
After I went to a SAAQ office with all the papers and I received my valid registration.
My cousin also just got a Strada, a blue one, and he went through the same process, It's not very complicated but it takes some time."
Back to Delicat now, sounds very similar to what we do here in BC. I've asked my brother to look into it (in Quebec) as well but sounds like the requirements are pretty much the same. I'll let you know once I find out.
Cheers,
David

Re: Registration in Quebec?
Thank you and merci bien à tout le monde.
It sounds like it should be pretty straightforward. Our van is now on the boat. I am still in Japan - hopefully we'll arrive about the same time, negotiate customs without much fuss, and be on the road before I go broke from renting a car big enough for all of us.
I will update when we've completed the process. Incidentally, insurance was easy - I've already set that up. We're using Meloche Monnex. Good rate.

Re: Registration in Quebec?
My bro decided to fly here to pick up his, any idea how to go about insurance? Should he get BC insurance for the trip back or Quebec insurance (He wouldn't really have the paper for the van as the van will be here by the time he leaves Montreal...)

Re: Registration in Quebec?
Hi,
I will try to reply in english this time.
We also do the trip to Surrey B.C. to picked up our Strada.
Karim from Silk Road provide us with ICBC Temporary Operation Permit,
(TOP),including an insurance for around 230$.
Last fall,when i come back home,Quebec,with my Strada, OPP(Ontario)
Provincial Police)stop me for a check.All was ok.He let me go,paper and
temporary registration was ok.Maybe he stop me because the steering is
on the right(RHD)...don't know...
This summer, with the Strada of my cousin,no problem, doing the ride from B.C. to Quebec in two weeks with two days in Seattle, passing
the border with TOP,no problem.A beautiful Trip.
