That has to be the rustiest "no rust undercarriage" I have seen in Canada.MardyDelica wrote: roof and under carriage no rust.

Much of this rust, I assume, is superficial - not the body rust that could really hurt the vehicle's longevity.
Are there any negatives to undercarriage rust, beyond the unpleasant esthetic?

The surface rust can be steam cleaned/removed.Mitsuballistic wrote:Much of this rust, I assume, is superficial - not the body rust that could really hurt the vehicle's longevity.

This is common in the interior/north where salt and winter accelerates the rust considerably.
Surface rust like the pic above is average for older vehicles. Body/Frame rust is what you should be looking out for. More specifically in the rear wheel wells and the front subframe mount brackets.

Not sure why you guys always go for the throat whenever someone questions a vehicle or service fom Mardy or CVI but themselves rip other vendors to shreads over similar misprints or errors accidental or otherwise.
That is not a rust free undercarriage...thats an undercarriage with visible surface rust regardless of if it affects the vehicle at all. 'Rust free' means there is no rust...not the same as does not have serious chassis rot that would present a problem at a vehicle inspection. Just because a true rust free L400 might be rare it doesn't mean that the term can be used loosely because of it does it? This vehicle is listed for sale in a public forum...items of concern about the vehicle should be freely discussable, not every Delica.ca member knows Mardys good reputation and the fact he seems to have some language barriers and you have to read between the lines sometimes.

Re: 94 Delica L400 SPACEGEAR T-Diesel 5spd * ON HOLD*
I think you're delusional. Rust usually looks BETTER in photos and WORSE in person. This is one of the rustiest L400 in Canada by far. I dont even know if the side steps would support weight without snapping. For the seller to snub his nose at the buyer and tell him it isjfarsang wrote:You must be new to Canada. We invented the term 'rust'.Konnichiwa wrote:That has to be the rustiest "no rust undercarriage" I have seen in Canada.MardyDelica wrote: roof and under carriage no rust.
The L400's and L300's tend to rust in certain areas.
The pic above you linked to has rust in the common areas which are not part of the body.
The side step mounting brackets, thin skid plate on the fuel tank and the coating on the rear axle.
Those are common rust spots which, if you can find an L400 without a spec, you're lucky. At any rate, it will rust here in Canada. The materials used are very thin.
As for Mardy's comments under carriage no rust, he's right. The rust is on the attachments. If you look at the other underbody pics, there is no rust on the body.
Pictures are hard to go by. In person is much better.
It looks like it's sold. New owner should be very happy to get one of the very few 5spd L400's here in Canada.
"rust-free" is just an abuse of trust.

Re: 94 Delica L400 SPACEGEAR T-Diesel 5spd * ON HOLD*
I've seen other pictures of this Delica after it's been cleaned and I've seen almost all of Mardy's L400's.Konnichiwa wrote:I think you're delusional.
Shoot me a PM if you still think I'm delusional and keep it out of the for sale threads.
I'm not discussing this further here with respect to the seller.
