Feedback on Dealers Area?
A couple of licensed dealers have contacted me for clarification regarding the intended use of this "Dealers Area" section.
At this time, this "Dealers Area" section serves as a area for ALL Delica-related commercial activity (sales, service) apart from the private sale of one's personal vehicle. Some of the posts are by Canadian-based dealers licensed under the Motor Dealers Act, whereas others are not.
The question of the day is this -- Would it be preferrable to divide this section into two sections such as "Canadian-based licensed dealers" versus "Other (non-Canadian based) dealers"?
If it ain't broke, I see no need to fix it. However, if anyone does have a strong preference one way or the other, lets have it.
:)

I agree... so far it doesnt seem as though there is enough action in the dealers area to warrant subcategories... why make more work for yourself. By the way, you are doing a stand up job, as are the other moderators, thanks.

Ahhh, why can't there be many more new areas? Maybe a Delica with nudes picture posts area, a Delica freebies area, how about a recipe section? Mark your doing a great job around here, but you ain't no Red Green; If it ain't broke, you aren't trying hard enough.
OK, just a little joking, but we are not a commercial, pay per use site. You don't charge for banner advertising, yet, and there isn't no premium membership services available for a small year fee. I'm trying hard to not point fingers at other forums that have let me down, but I like what we have going here. It's a rapidly growing community, all about sharing ideas and having fun. If some one is shopping for a Delica, there is tons of great info here for them - but it's still Caveat emptor.
Kev - Stay the course Mark.

i see no need to seerate the 2 catagories... if a curber is standing behind his product then that is better than some dealers...
now if a dealer or curber is shafting people that might be worth a sentence or two.
leave it as is, if it anin't broke, don't fix it...

curbers may stand behind their product, does not make them acceptable. their activity should not be supported and accepted. it is hard to fight against them but we all should fight whenever possible.

Curbers ??
How can you fight against curbers ?? It is legal for anyone to buy and sell up to five cars a year personally . After that they are up against the motor dealer council and will be prosecuted for not having a license . Doesn`t seem like we need to `fight` against curbers there are laws against it ????

I would rather a curber who stands behind their product than a dealer that doesn't. if we need to "fight against" anyone it is those who don't stand behind their product, those that are just out to make a quick buck and don't care how.curbers may stand behind their product, does not make them acceptable.
whether curber or dealer is irrelevant as long as they follow the law and stand behind their product.

How can curbers follow the law? if they follow the law, they would be licensed, wouldn't they? If dealers don't stand behind their product, that is a whole different issue.Green1 wrote:I would rather a curber who stands behind their product than a dealer that doesn't. if we need to "fight against" anyone it is those who don't stand behind their product, those that are just out to make a quick buck and don't care how.curbers may stand behind their product, does not make them acceptable.

Curbers
Some of the pre-purchase inspections I have carried out at the shop on vehicles being sold by a `curber` are way nicer vans and better condition than some of the dealer supplied units I have seen . I have pointed out to anyone purchasing a private sale van that they are paying the same as they would from a dealer but have no warranty or comeback if something fails . There is no law against people importing vans and `curbing` them . What we should be against is the dealers that give poor service and do not stand by their products . Thats worth fighting against !!!

Basically it looks to me like someone wants to separate the dealers area in 2 so as to be able to make themselves look superior to others and force some otherwise good people to use an area that would be less desirable.
I think the best way for people to decide what dealer to use is not to segregate on arbitrary criteria, but rather to let the individual dealers posts speak for themselves, reading the posting history of the various people on here, as well as the comments others leave about specific dealers is far more valuable than any arbitrary criteria that aims to promote one business over another.

Dealers
I have to agree Green1 , this area is for businesses supplying Delica owners with parts , service or sales . Not all parts sales businesses have automotive dealer licenses , not all repair shops have dealer licenses , but all sales businesses should have a dealer license number . I have a repair shop with a business license and a personal automotive license number . I don`t see any point to splitting up businesses that are all offering some kind of service , sales or parts to Delica owners based on whether they have an automotive dealer license .
