What's this plug for?

I expect it's included on standard harness but meant for options I don't have. But maybe I can use it for pyro gauge or something...
I found it tucked away above the pedals.
Do you know what it's for?

do you have the alarms when you leave your keys in the ignition or leave your lights on? it looks like the same plug and location as the alarm on the L300 but as it's not an L300 it's just a shot in the dark.

I am not 100% sure but I think is is the connection for the "MUT" (multi unit tester). It is used by the dealer to plug his MUT machine into to check for error codes etc.Maybe it is just the photo but it looks like the carpet has had 4-6 inches cut off it. I was sure it came further up the fire wall than that.. Cheers

Having spent exended amounts of time under the dash of my new L400 yesterday, I can assure you that the carpet on the 94s is as in the picture.... on a side note, I pulled out an insane amount of aftermarket wiring that wasn't connected to anything anymore... not sure what all the japanese owner had in there, but there was a LOT of left over wire, switches, relays, etc to remove.

There are also pre-exsisting Mitsubishi wire looms/plugs that are meant for additional options but were never installed physically in your L400.

Heated seats, karaoke machine, disk changer, amp, aux lights, airbags, etc...

Yeah, the MUT thing sounds quite likely. Don't know about the carpet as I've never seen others but I was down quite low for the photo so could be it just looks odd. You've given me an idea though; maybe I'll install some extra carpet up in that area for additional sound damping.

That was my initial thought also. If it is the case maybe I could wire up my pyro there instead of running new leads from the fuse box.

There doesn't appear to much if anything in the way of extra wiring in mine, although I could use a bit.

I now have a box full of the stuff... the previous owner apparently had 2 more sets of lights on the front of the vehicle (in addition to the fog lights, driving lights, and all the factory standard lights) as well as one on the rear of the vehicle, there was also a fair amount of wiring going to somewhere between the front 2 seats, and that doesn't include the wiring I kept for the turbo timer and the 2 lights on the side of the vehicle that point backwards from the front mud flaps (reversing lights?) plus some other stuff that I can't even guess what it was for...

I removed it all instead of re-using it though for a few reasons, first of all, much of it was connected straight to the battery with no fuses secondly, it most of it didn't go where I wanted it to, and the stuff that did was of too small a gauge for the power draws that I want... I figured it was best to just pull it all out and start fresh.
