These photos are all of the front right hand side wheel arch. They show what needs to be done to the rear of the guard and the front outer edge of the guard. This is my Delica by the way so you can blame me if it is not done properly. I did this with the intention of keeping the mud flaps as I wanted to keep the car as tidy as possible. The first thing to do is get your sharp knife and neatly cut just enough inner liner off the back of the guard to expose the first 7" inches of a folded seem that runs up the back of the guard (take the mud flap off before you start). Once you have exposed the seem you need to fold over the 7 inches you have exposed. This is where you get to use your hammer. Just slowly but forcefully go up and down the seem until you have flattened/bent it inwards. then with the rubber mallet, gently bash in the area of inner guard on the inner side of the seem. The whole area should easily buckle in about an inch or so. Now you need to cut away a section of the mud flap, refer photo. You will find there is tin inside which you need to cut. Once you are happy that it looks ok you can put the mudflap back on and make a small bracket to hold the inner edge in place to sop it flexing. Once it is all back together just paint the seem and anywhere else that is visible metal with black tar paint to seal it and the back section is done..

The next thing to do is the lower outer front section of the guard. This is where the tyre will rub on full lock right. This is the most stressful bit i found as it involves sawing a section of your mudguard off. You only need to cut about 12ml off and it is probably about a 4" high section. To get a nice line I used masking tope to continue the curve of the guard down neatly.

Once this is cut off the guard liner needs to be pushed forward and held in place by an electrical tie. There just happens to be a hole there you can use to hold it in place.

I have a bit of advantage here as the front of my guard is silver and was easy to touch up where I sawed off but i am sure you will sort that out. Well that is it. I hope you can sort it out from the photos. If you are intending putting on 265 mud tyres this mod will NOT be enough to stop the rubbing but it will allow you to go to 265s without rubbing except under extreme conditions. I run 255s and they don't rub regardless of what i do.. Cheers..
PS.....IF YOU INTEND TO PUT SNOW CHAINS ON THEN THIS IS NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU ENOUGH ROOM TO FIT THOSE AS WELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
