It's the ABS warning light
something not working in your brake system
can be a whole list of things including electrical, solenoids, sensors, etc...
take it to a good shop

sorry to disagree but I have a pdf manual for 97 and up L400s I suppose it could have change but it seem unlikely. in that manual it shows an abs light that is the same as the standard the letters ABS in a circle with parentheses on each side

Jesse is correct. I always get mixed up with all the vehicles I have. My 360 Modena shows the back of the vehicle with swerve marks for the traction control.

cool I stand corrected, I suppose the light was changed to match the standard when they did the face lift.
I would have thought the skidding symbol was traction control as well.
Some times it gets a bit too much just how much conflicting info is out there, sometimes because of slight changes some times just because someone passes off an assumption as fact.

Re: dash light??what is it
yeah, no traction control on these beasts... not in 1994/1995 anyway.
The question really is whether the light indicates a problem with the brake system, or just the ABS subsystem. If it's the later, be thankful that your ABS has been disabled! if it's the former, then get it checked out!

Re: dash light??what is it
I had the light on in my 1st L400.
It took a long time to diagnose. In the end, it was a cracked ABS ring.
When that light stays on, it could be any one of these things :
-Brake not working properly (seized calipers/pins)
-Air in the system
-ABS rings cracked
-Faulty ABS module/solenoid
-Faulty in-line wiring
-Faulty ABS sensor on any which wheel
The most common one you'll see is air in the system.
This usually happens when someone tries to bleed the brake system after replacing brakes parts and/or compressing the caliper cylinders. This backs up air in the system including the ABS valve box.
I did this once by accident and it took me 4 times and a few hours to bleed it properly at each valve/connection (crack it open/bleed, repeat).
The bleeding process is more complicated on the ABS equipped L400's compared to the non-ABS L400's.
