L400 intercooler shroud cutting into rad hose

Post by jessef »

I've seen this problem recently on all L400's.

If you haven't yet, please remove or lift up the intercooler and check your upper rad hose.

The bottom of the intercooler fan shroud is sharp and makes contact with the upper rad hose.

If cut or ruptured, lose of coolant = bad.

Two solutions :

1. Rotate upper rad hose downwards so there is no contact with fan shroud.

2. Rotate as above and put some protection on.

I chose 2. and used a few inches of old rad hose and a zap strap wrapped around the area where the shroud makes contact.
