Hello all,
I just got my first Delica 1993 4WD diesel. Now that I have it, I have few things to change or repair. I would appreciate some help to find the part or to receive some tips on how I can repair it myself. Thanks in advance.
1) The speedometer broke on my first road trip. The Speedo works, but it's off of 35-50 km/h. Is there any way I can reset it and how or will I have to change it all?
2) Front windows (Driver's and passenger's) plastic wind deflectors are in my sight and I would like to remove them. I'm a tall guy and I can't see well with the wind deflector. I had a look at it and I haven't find a easy to remove them easily. The only way I see now, would be to to drill the studs and remove the deflector while the anchors will still be in place.
3) My horn doesn't work and I think it's because the wheel is broken in the area of the horn. Is it easy to replace and is there a way to get this part?
4) My hatch doesn't stay open, the problem is probably the hydraulic harms. Is there a way to fix them, or would I have to change them? I though the harms might just need some more oil, but it doesn't seem to be leaking.
5) The multitask pod with altimeter is missing is there a way I can get one?
Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm a newbie with my Delica and in mechanic, but I want to learn and be able to fix my new baby.
Regards
NIc

Re: Multiple questions Speedo, wheel, hatch
without more information it's hard to say, if it is off by a specific amount at all times regardless of speed (ie it always reads 40kph off) then it's probably a matter of pulling apart the gauge and physically moving the needle to the right place.nicbazin wrote:1) The speedometer broke on my first road trip. If it's intermittent, than it's more likely some part that isn't moving the way it should be, could be the cable, or some of the gearing inside the unit.
If your odometer is still accurate, than I'd go with something inside the unit, whereas if it is off as well it could also be the cable or sensor.
They're actually pretty simple to remove, after you roll down the windows the rubber window channel that the windows seal in to around the top of the window frame simply pull out, once you pull that rubber out the clips for the "monsoon guards" will be obvious, and they simply pop out. If you ever want to re-use the guards, or re-sell them, or re-gift them, to someone else (and there are probably some on the forum who would want them) then be careful and gentle when dealing with the clips, some of these vehicles have pretty brittle plastic on those guards after 15 years...2) Front windows (Driver's and passenger's) plastic wind deflectors are in my sight and I would like to remove them. The hydraulic arms aren't really "user serviceable", there are specialty shops that can recharge them, or you need to find replacements. this is a very common problem, even more so if there is any extra weight on the tailgate (ie a ladder)4) My hatch doesn't stay open, the problem is probably the hydraulic harms. Is there a way to fix them, or would I have to change them? I though the harms might just need some more oil, but it doesn't seem to be leaking.

Thanks Bouch!
I've succeed to remove the monsoon guards. Only the driver's guard made it alive. Any one might be interested?
Now I want to fix the speedo. Unfortunatly I can't find the delica wiki and the pictures on how to access the speedo. Anyone can provide the web address?
Thanks

Or you could go to the forum index of this site, scroll down to ''Delica Canada Technical''; look for ''DelicaWiki'' (the one with the big green dot); then click on it.
