I Have an L400 Super Exceed which has a grudge against driver comfort!
During the warm weather the front AC would not work and the heater came forth at full irrespective of the temperature settings.
Now the cooler weather is here (as I am currently visiting Edmonton) the AC wants to come on and I have no heater output! I am sure the timing of these events is purely coincidence and not related to the local weather!
Most of the controls function normally such as Mode, Recirculation, and AC on/off the only exception being the ability to adjust temperature according to the temperature selected. The defogger output is also cold (more so as it wants to turn the AC on when selected)! I have substituted the Control head with no apparent change in symptoms.
Fortunately the rear system is working and therefore we some degree of comfort! I am thinking the problem may be an intermittently stuck temperature controlling motor/flap.
Does anyone have the wiring schematics for the L400 with the digital controls? Also, the location and function of the various motorized flaps in or on the heater core would aid in troubleshooting. (The diagrams I have located on the web so far relate to the manual heater controls.)
Any help will be appreciated,
Dick

Re: L400 Heating & AC woes
when windshield defroster is used on vehicles equipt with AC, the compressor will always run...its like having a dehumidifier in your heater.
As for the controls issue..? Sorry!

Re: L400 Heating & AC woes
I second this as when the window defrost button is pushed this automatically turns the a/c on.....
