Broken Belt Help - Please? :)

Post by stonefly »

Hi all, - need a wee help. My first boo boo with my new machine - 6 weeks in! Was checking my oil this am before heading out and discovered a belt lying there, broken. The last week there'd been some slight screaming for the first 20 sec or so as the car warmed up driving away so I figured something was going. So, which belt is it? MPMF-6360. Can I get it at the local Mitsubishi dealer? How hard is it to replace - both in diy for a dummy or how much time @ shop? :)
TIA all. :)

Which belt ?

Make sure to check the crankshaft pulley if the belt made it's way in between the pulley and the timing case.

Which belt is what I'm asking by the MPMF-6360 code on it. :)
The belt was sitting on top of everything thankfully, as it was in my way checking the oil. :)

just take it to any parts store...they can size it up and match it, its actually pretty easy...if they have a pretty deep belt inventory.

Thanks. Rookie here. Really enjoying the forum and the L400 rocks. :) After 4 years of trips to NZ it was time to get us one. :)

As it turns out it was an AC belt. Evidently my other belts are loose and need changing. When I bought it from a dealer (from this forum) 6 weeks ago he said all belts had been changed, brand new, and good to go. Now, all belts need changing and the fellow at my shop tells me that the AC tensioner needs replacing too. I suspect that all of the tensioners likely need changing, but the question is can I buy these belts locally through a size up from stock, or buy them from the parts guys on the coast and have them shipped - I'm in Red Deer Ab. And of course, how hard is it to change out tensioners - looks easy but I might be ignorant. :)
TIA & Cheers

I would contact the dealer you bought it from before and ask him a few legitimate questions... If he is a good guy, he can provide you at least with free parts. If not, feel free to mention his company here: http://www.delica.ca/forum/dealer-feedb ... uquets-61/
