Thanks for the input guys. It certainly is the simplest solution. Picked up a couple of 6mm bolts at bolt supply and I'm off to drill a hole.

Thanks for the comments guys. The captains chairs do lock in place so I'm not quite sure why it would be a problem. I've got a call into the manufacturer to see what they have to say.
