Possible Tranny Trouble - Shifting Issues
I know this is way down thread but this information saved me as well. This thread is a great find! I've made a copy to the L400 Technical Reference Library (minus the off-topic posts), hopefully others with the same issues won't have to search quite as hard as you did. Thanks! A year and half later...

Possible Tranny Trouble - Shifting Issues
I know this is way down thread but this information saved me as well. Was told I needed a transmission inspection and likely rebuild. Found this, moved my intercooler out of the way and then found the voltage on my TPS to be 0.62 V. Adjusted to 0.8 V and my problems disappeared for now. Thank you.

Loss of Overdrive on 1996 L400
Can someone identify the following part/sensor? The connection to this is quite loose and doesn't lock in place. Would this potentially have something to do with loss of OD on the L400? The following pictures shows the part with the connector removed (visible upper left) and the position of the sens...

Re: Loss of Overdrive on 1996 L400
I am still unable to access 4th gear despite the fact that the switch is now operational. Will need more help. Thanks for the tips above.

Re: Loss of Overdrive on 1996 L400
Hi all, Thanks for the tips. Indeed, when I removed the cover and had a look at the wire leads from the gearshift across the crimps on the steering column the red and yellow wires had been neatly severed. Perhaps by my kids playing a little bit too enthusiastically with the lever while parked. After...

Re: Loss of Overdrive on 1996 L400
Hi all,
The switch works fine mechanically but the O/D off light will not come on. The van is clearly not in OD. Is this behaviour consistent with a faulty switch?

Loss of Overdrive on 1996 L400
Hi all, A couple of weeks ago the following problem presented itself: 1. Pressing OD switch on gearshift does not cause the OD OFF light to appear 2. Van is clearly not in OD as only ~3 gears available and 80 km/h = 3.1-3.2 krpm Has anyone had this trouble before? I have checked fuses and they appea...

Roof Racks L400 - Easily removable
Hi all, Wanting to van top my kayaks and currently do not have a roof rack on my 1996 L400. Ideally, I would like to be able to remove them easily so that, 1) my van will fit in my garage (which it does just barely without racks) when not needing to carry kayaks, 2) when I go to the mainland I am no...

Edmonston on CBC hyping radioactive Japanese imports
Hi all, Just listened to Phil Edmonston of Lemon Aid Car Guides suggest that consumers should be afraid of the potential for radioactive vehicles imported from Japan after the March 2011 Fukushima prefecture meltdown. In my opinion this seems to be an overhyped reason for concern. I'm going to check...

Hi Paul,
Thanks for this. I guess there is method in the madness...looks like I'll have to replace.

Jay
