Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
Problem solved. I have recently found a small leak in the ATF lines to the radiator. Upon fixing this and taking the Deli to a transmission specialist who confirmed everything is fine and stated that the symptoms I was having are those of low fluid. I was able to put the picture together, slow leak,...

Re: Does anyone know what this is?
Okay first off and most importantly.... it is 88MPH not 85MPH and the sad part is my wife even corrected me earlier this evening, so I am utterly embarrassed that I failed and that I am less cool than she is. Secondly and more to the point, thank you for the links/info. That is actually very good ne...

Re: Does anyone know what this is?
Ha ha looks like its a mystery to all... Well I can tell you this, the throttle control exists and is on the other side as mentioned by others so this is something different. Yes the Autostep is for the running board to slide out, however only under the sliding door as the other two (driver and pass...

Does anyone know what this is?
Circled in red is a pull lever that I can't figure out. If anyone knows what this is or what it does that would be much appreciated.

Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
Thanks for the feedback, I definitely think this might be something that will come back so I may do this test. Another bit of information I got from a Transmission specialist is that it is possible that when the transmission sits for a long time sometimes the clutch plates can dry out as well and th...

Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
For anyone that may be interested I have done a full fluid flush, put in some new ATF and a new filter into the automatic transmission. I performed a few more tests including a Torque Converter stall test which cut out at 2,000 rpm which is a bit early as the documentation I have states 2,400 - 2,90...

If you do bring one over I would be interested in purchasing the Automatic Transmission off of you if you are interested.

Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
Thanks for the reply, I did try a battery reset before dropping the Pan and I got the same results with the Transmission but of course the 44 open/short error code was gone since I reset the CPU. I appreciate the assistance, and I might take you up on your offer but for the time being I will try to ...

Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
I have an update, I dropped the automatic transmission pan yesterday and drained the fluids. There were no big metal chunks and for the most part the fluid was decent. The magnets had a very fine metallic dust on them which is normal so that is a good sign. I was able to put an ohm meter on each sol...

Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
I will have a look at the fluid as soon as I can, do you have any feedback on where to look for the 'gear selection' faults? Its a real shame thusfar, as she starts well in cold weather, and from being underneath I can't find any rust, dirt or wear marks whatsoever the van looks almost new. The tran...

Re: L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
Both those posts seem related to the TPS adjustment and unless someone has had a similar issue that was fixed by that I would hesitate to think it is the cause as my symptoms are different. The problem with these is that everyone seems to be having a shifting up/down issue with OD or other gears. I ...

L400 Automatic Transmission Won't Engage
Hello everyone I am new to the form and am looking for a little help. I just purchased my new 1997 L400 Delica (the newer design with second generation fuel delivery system). The vehicle was fresh off the boat and I was driving it from Vancouver to Calgary so that I could register it in AB. Upon sto...
