I believe you topped off with deionized water.
You bet I did, nothing but the good stuff!
I made the mistake of topping the water to the bottom of the plastic tubes, it was then that I learned that when the battery is not charging the water level drops down a quarter inch bec...

Re: Starter Problem?

Well, after posting I got out there and did just what you both suggested. I removed the batteries and cleaned the terminals. They were'nt corroded at all, but I guess the oxidation does'nt help. While the batteries were out I also checked the wiring for any cracking and continuity. I added a drop of...

Starter Problem?

Well, after a couple of weeks of this happening, searching and finding nothing wrong, I thought I'd best ask better minds than me. The van starts fine 90% of the time, but the other times it turns over really slowly and after a couple of minutes it will catch. This is after running fine earlier. As ...

Re: Deli names

Are you an Aviator?
Yes I am, did my training in Chilliwack at Principal Air. I also worked with Sabastian at Murphy Aircraft for a couple of years, I think it may have been me that convinced him to go to school and become a real structures engineer. :-D Say Hi to him for me, Chris Wilson.

Re: Deli names

Duke's name comes from a song, Duke's Travels. The song after that is Duke's End but I won't let him listen to that  .
I see King George Airpark at the bottom of your posts, do you know Sebastian?

I know that van. It's from out here in the Chillibush area. I've seen it a couple of times at my work place.
And yes that is a nice bike! :M

Re: Alternator help needed asap!!

I recommend it, I just got back from doing just that.. on a couple less wheels though Nice pictures!! Yes we have talked more on going to Alaska and I think we'll end up doing it next year. About the altrnator, I paid $240 for the rebuild and about $100 for the install. The bill was a lot more than...

Re: Alternator help needed asap!!

I tried to get an oil change in Dawson, and that would have taken a day or two wait. So I waited until Whitehorse instead. But I sure do like Dawson other than that. We both liked Dawson, but I loved Whitehorse. If I could find a job there, I'd start tomorrow. The wife on the other hand is a little...

Re: Alternator help needed asap!!

I had not heard of this rule, but I can tell you I wasn't the only one doing that. There were a few places where people were letting their RV's run while filling and they were all diesel's. I suppose I should not have said "cared" but "not noticed". Most places were pay at the pu...

Re: Alternator help needed asap!!

Surprisingly, they are not at all full of voodoo and witchcraft that only certain magicians can remove using specials spells or potions!! Your absolutley right, I've rebuilt alternators and generators, no problem. North American or imports, it's all the same process. My problem happened to be two t...

Re: Alternator help needed asap!!

OK, we're home, got back Thursday night and now the van is in the shop. It sounds like it is either the alternator or the voltage regulator, I'll find out next week. This all happened on the Dempster Highway on our way back to Dawson City. It was very dry and dusty so we were driving with the headlig...

Alternator help needed asap!!

Ok, we are stuck in Dawson City, Yukon with an inoperable alternator. I have three options avalable to me; 1) have an alternator shipped by air freight here, 2) use batteries to jump start the van each morning till we get back to the lower mainland , or 3) is there an alternative to the mitsubishi a...
