Re: Crown tech changed hands?
Crown tech has indeed changed hands...about a year ago but they still service Delis. I made an appointment and I took my Deli camper there this fall for a service under the new guys. I left a list of things for them to do, including replacing a broken exhaust manifold stud that Brian had mentioned t...

Re: Japanese Motorhomes
Falco, I don't have a lot of interior pictures but if you google japanese campers you will get a good idea of what they look like. Most of them look the same. Side entry. Sink and stove at the back. Biffy in back left corner. Heater on passenger side, in the middle of the unit. Cupboards high along ...

Re: Japanese Motorhomes
Mardy, There was no problem registering my camper with BCIC. I did it in January 2010 at the vehicle registration office near Crown Tech Auto. The vehicle required standard conversions for North American driving, including an electrical change to force headlights to be on at all times. It also requi...

Re: Japanese Motorhomes
I'm not sure what you mean by motorhome category. Mine required some typical changes, including new tires that are DOT approved, plus some minor electrical mods. But there were no changes required that were specifically related to motorhomes. All of the components inside were fine, including stove, ...

Re: Japanese Motorhomes
Here is mine. It's a '94 that I brought over in 2009 through Terra2. They are now defunct.

Re: Delica Service in Squamish
Thanks! It's a '94 L400 chassis but with a Japanese camper installed. Original service when it came to Canada was done by Crown Tech Auto, in N Van. I was hoping I could keep it local but if not then will likely go back there. Will check out the local place you mention though.

Delica Service in Squamish
I recently moved to Squamish. I've seen a few Delicas around town. Where would you recommend I take my Delica for service?

Re: Merry Christmas from Gun Lake!
Nice cabin!
My Dad owned a cabin right on the lake back in the '50's. We lived in Bralorne back then. Gotta get back some day to see what's changed.
Have a great Christmas!

Re: can somebody help me?
No manual throttle. The bush bar is a homie, I'm pretty sure. I'm sure it's a '94. It's a 400. Mileage is not spectacular. I cruise around 90 to 95. Top end is about 105. Tank is 60 liters. That's good for around 400 km. It has 5 speed std with part time 4wd plus lo range. Good for steep hills or bu...

Re: can somebody help me?
It's a '94. Found it in Japan last summer and purchased through Terra2. Picked it up in January. It will sleep 2 plus two kids, but there are only 2 plus 2 small dogs on most trips. It has frig, 2 burner stove, furnace and washroom (including hot water) on board. Good for long weekends or even week ...

Re: ticking and puffing out black smoke
Diesel engines run hotter than gas engines and require more cylinder wall clearance to allow for greater metal expansion from cold to hot. So they often make strange sounds when newly started up. If it's making sounds when at normal operating temperatures then you likely have an engine issue requiri...

Re: DELICA JB500 RV?
Furnace is propane and works properly, so I don't think so. It was very fine soot, like diesel exhaust. It might also have come from a warehouse fire where the Deli was stored. Not sure, but it came off most surfaces fairly easily.

Re: DELICA JB500 RV?
I have one. I picked it up in January. So far I've put about 5,000 k on it and it's everything I wanted and more. Several weeks ago I took it from N BC to Sask and back without any issues, although I lost the cap for the water holding tank somewhere in Jasper Park. Interior has a great layout and wi...
