transmission swap...from one van to another...?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

as far as I know the transmissions are all the same 89 - 97 I believe. it should drop right in (I know, easier said than done). however I would call one of the reputable shops and ask the mechanics, coombs is always a trusted source for myself for these inquiries.

good luck!

Re: transmission swap...MODULE problem

Post by rainypotato »

new (used) tranny dropped right in, so nice to have something go 97% smooth...

now I have an issue with the module that tells the dashlights, reverse lights, and silly reverse beeping what gears are being used...

the newly installed tranny had that part all seized up and it quickly broke. Now I drive with the dashlight in P, no reverse lights, etc.

My old tranny's module worked fine, but removing it is proving to be a real problem, hard to manage the 'inner ram', Ifear breaking it...

Any tricks out there???

As well, is it worth it to strip my old tranny of all the little things?

Thanks, Jen

Photos from this link to the 'the good part' is just that.

I am trying to free it (soak in wd40, a mix of atf/acetone and fluid film) with light prying action and tapping on the bolt to get things vibrating off.

Oh, man, I feel your pain. That's the kind of stuff that gives grey hairs and high distillery stock prices. Can you get a small puller on it?
