My van (from cc auto) has the drl unit under the hood between the fuse panel and the drivers side headlight.
My old van had headlight issues like that when the drl unit burnt out, it melted to the consistency of a soft marshmallow. It was a black cube about 35mm square.
I replaced it with a heavy duty version and all was good.
I think CC autoes has a pic of the heavy duty one their parts page, it has a ribbed metal case.
Here's a pic of the one in my new van

Fixed thanks to claude. It was a relay put in aftermarket hanging upside down under the fuse box full of water. Ill get a replacement and move the relay to a better location. Woo hoo

Thanks to this thread I was able to trace and resolve the same problem. My DRL relay was mounted under the hood and got wet during a heavy rainfall causing the headlights to stay on. Simple fix really, just disconnected the relay, pried the cover off, let it sit in the sun for an hour to dry, put it back together and voila headlights go off and on as they should. I also strapped the relay out of the way so it wouldn't get wet again. Thanks everyone!

hi, those DRl usually don't work good for all this L300 and L400.
I did try and install heavy duty or light duty those type of relay, for the past 5 yrs now from grote one , Canadian tire or diff type of drl.
for some reason it wont work:
since them I just used the LED day time running light and so far for the past 3 yrs not a single problem with there electrical problem.
only to replace the led led when it burnout. as the led only used 2w electric that saves your alternator lifespan than the full voltage12V output DRL.
fix many of those full voltage 12V DRL and replace with LED DRL with customer feedback they happy and less headache.
will never go back to those grote DRL again as its not compatible for this Delica. it burn sometime electrical problem component and other. result is expensive and unhappy customer.
hope this help
cheers;
