1993 Chamonix Rear trunk latch

Post by lito_onion »

The latch seems to be all fouled up and won't hold the trunk closed. Does anyone have a latch they could sell or know any other models that would have the exact same latch? (I'm guessing all of the 3rd gen Delicas will)

Try loosening the latch and repositioning it a little. It usually doesn't take much to realign it with the tailgate. Look at the latch for marks and move it the opposite direction for a better fit.
good luck

I managed to fix the problem! I sprayed the internals alternatively with brake cleaner and WD40, and forced the moving parts with a pair of pliers. After about a dozen rinses, the part moved - and after a dozen more, it moved smoothly. The latch was reinstalled without a problem.
