So far I've installed a snorkel, extended the front diff breather to the top of the engine firewall, and extended the rear diff breather to above the tail lights. Is that all there is to really worry about?
I have the dual fuel tank diesel and I believe the breather for them is at the top of the fill neck behind the cap, so no need to worry about that?
And I have the automatic transmission, I haven't found a breather on it either? I'm guessing it vents out of the dipstick tube? (but I haven't dropped it to look... I'd rather not)
What about the air filter drain? It's just a rubber "flapper" type thing to let water out (probably a good thing w/ a snorkel)... does it work well enough to keep water out when wading?
I don't have any intentions of going windshield deep or anything like that, I just want to make sure everything is nice and clear.

My transmission has a breather, it runs from the top of the rear housing forward along the top of the transmission. It's a rubber hose wrapped in a protective plastic coil, and ends in... a thing I haven't looked too closely at. Some kind of valve, I think. Shouldn't be too hard to extend the rubber hose. You can see it without dropping the transmission.
I wonder about the little rubber flap on the air filter too. In theory the lower air pressure inside the filter housing should hold it shut, but it does seem awful flimsy- though I've not heard of anyone having trouble with it. (I just spent half an hour trying to find the video of Mystery Machine driving for half an hour through water 5 feet deep- and can't find it.)

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

OK, I had a good look at that hose, it connects to the transmission at both ends. I'm guessing it vents into the bell-housing which seems pretty well sealed other than the inspection plate. I think trapped air in the housing would provide the required protection, but a bit of silicon for the inspection plate could be added easily.
Can anyone confirm?
