Hi Adrock, I don't think any of the 3 Trekkie Deli's can do the overnight this weekend. Coaxial has 2 buddies joining him for the day drive, Jay Tardis has to work Monday, and Falco is busy.
Looking forward to next weekend.
I'll PM you our phone numbers. Cheers, Christine of the Tardis Deli.

Re: Friday March 28th-Sunday March 30th Harrison FSR Round Deux
Hey guys,
I just came back home from the overnight trip to Pemberton and further along Lillooet Lake to a saw mill to West Harrison FSR.
To make the story really short I want to report that Sloquet hot springs are not accessible because of snowy road according to Skookumchuck hot springs caretaker's info. What I witnessed myself it was 1.5' of snow on the road approximately 3.5 km from Mills on a higher elevation. I had to turn back and spent a night on Skookumchuck hot springs. The road from Pemberton to Douglas Indian Reserve is mostly dry and dusty.
I will post the pictures and may be video in a separate thread later.

I did not check the road to Harrison hot springs. My understanding is that there is still show everywhere at higher elevations especially under the shades.

Re: Friday March 28th-Sunday March 30th Harrison FSR Round Deux
so new date or new trip?
Re: Friday March 28th-Sunday March 30th Harrison FSR Round Deux
we spent all day today on harrison west FSR.... details and pictures will be coming soon... basically near harrison lookout just past hale/sunrise around km marker 26 I think, we encountered 2' of snow on the road. We followed 4x4 truck tracks a bit but they only went so far, and even with snow chains (and adrock's aggressive tires and driving habits!) we had to turn back. We figure this is the only place on the whole loop with snow on it, and it only exists for about 3km as it is the highest elevation point on the loop. The road was great up until that point, and there is a bypass, but it was locked. It was not a serious gate but we left it alone
We had a ton of fun playing on the main forestry road and all the side roads, and will post pictures and videos soon. We found some amazing camping spots and the scenery back there is great.
We are planning if/how to adjust the trip next weekend and will make sure it all gets sorted out and everyone knows what the plan is this week.
For now you get this, http://coaxial.ca/hello/adrock.avi
<-- please note this is not the main road but a side road we explored

Re: Friday March 28th-Sunday March 30th Harrison FSR Round Deux
As far as we got before we hit the wet, wet snow...
The main Harrison FSR can be brutal after driving for a few hours. General minor obstacles encountered were chatter; cobble; scree and rocks on the road. Hills on the main FSR were generally ranging from ten to 15 degrees, on the side roads they ranged between 15 to 20 degrees on average. The big obstacles: When we confronted the snow, it was so wet that even in 4WD chains were of little avail. Other big obstacles were things like fording streams that were in deeper gulleys, which I must say, I am impressed with Adrock and Coaxial in their daring feats on crossing these. More pictures on the way, I am sure.
We discovered some really cool camp sites that looked like they were custom designed for Delicas and we had a lot of fun doing this. There is also this mysterious pub in the middle of nowhere that does burger & fries for $1.99... go figure.

Re: Friday March 28th-Sunday March 30th Harrison FSR Round Deux
Greetings Deli-0's, This is to confirm on behalf of Adrock that we are definitely doing the Adrock Expedition group trek to Harrison this Weekend (28/29/30 March). So pack your wooly longjohns, and 2 sleeping bags each, and as much firewood as you can scrounge from local building sites. I've got the marshmallows and the toasting forks. We got us another convoy !
Adrock, Coaxial, FalcoColumbarius, and the TardisDeli checked out the roads and campsites last weekend, and Adrock & gf were hardy enough to test it overnight. And the winner is ...
Grace Lake Campsite for Friday night, is on the main Harrison FS road, after the Weaver Lake road, so fairly close to the start of the gravel road. Easy to find at night as you don't go off the mainroad, and if we hear a Delica sputtering by we can wave you down. Is on the left side of road, partway up a little hill, Clean, beside a pretty lake, with fireplace, clean outhouse toilet (bring your own paper), room for lotsa delicii. I will go up Friday morning to hold the spot, please can anyone else get there before dark??
Saturday night may move depending on the group wishes, Adrock is suggesting a spot he found. The emergency meeting spot is the Sasquatch Inn parking lot (on the Highway, just at the turnoff) in case of bad weather etc.
Dinner Friday could be at the Sasquatch Inn. Friday Steak Dinner $8.00. Saturday dinner is Roast Beef. We tested the menu last week, super food. Food kitchen closes at 10pm, bar closes at 1am. So just leave straight from work, don't eat at a trashy fast food place, stop briefly at the Sasquatch Inn to see if any Delicii out front, then drive the road 20-30 minutes to check in at the site, then return for dinner.
Look for the signs along the road, Falco is making big red & white Mitsu maples like the stickers, from plastic cardboard, about 8 inches big, to hang from trees .
We couldn't drive the whole Harrison Road, too snowy to go past the Hale / Sunrise Turnoff, so plan is to do side roads on Saturday. Sunday might be east side of Stave , OR ?
So post here if u might be joining, so we know to save you a camp spot.
Cheers, Christine.

Sounds great! me and the girlfriend and maybe a friend or two are in! we will head out to grace lake right after work friday from downtown van.
Grace lake is really nice and there are lots of other sites around, we can explore during the day and perhaps change the scenery and camp somewhere else saturday night.
There are lots of really nice spots (mossy clearing type spots) to put a tent at grace lake as well for those that don't want to sleep in vehicle. If any one needs a tent to use I have several.
Getting there is super easy:
-Step one, go to harrison mills via hwy 1 or hwy 7:

-Step two, go to grace lake! (click for big map)

Great interactive map of the area http://aardvark.gov.bc.ca/apps/recst/
In case you want to fish or boat on a miniature lake!

Here are some photos I got sunday, it was really nice out there even on a rainy day, hopefully it ends up dry this weekend it would be awesome
Part of grace lake campsite, you can see the main harrison west fsr in the background:

A creek right next to the campsite:

Playing on the hale creek road :)

Here are the rest of the photos I uploaded from sunday!

Hoping for good weather and a good turnout

So im pretty sure im in,might bring a friend if i can find one willing. I will be leaving work in whistler right at 2:00, so if i miss road closure (very unlikcey) i should get to northvan around3:45-4.from there it would be really nice if there was someone else leavin the city around that time as im not to good at navigating ya'lls crazy city highways. Its funny i drive the sea to sky every day which is suppose to be superr scary, but when i get to the city im like turning down the radio sayin to my self ok this is real highway pay attention.
i do have to drop some fish off at pet boutique on marine drive on my way down.
SEE YEAH OUT THERE!
