And the second part of the pictures, as promised!

This is on the way to Gold Bridge, going over the snowy pass. Man do I love snow!

After a great pie and ice cream at the local hotel we were off for some exploring...
Picture 4.jpg

Which brought us to some higher ground with amazing views (and even better trails)!

Now the climb on the tight switchback started. The angle of the pictures are pretty accurate, it was steep!

And finally, just before darkness settled in... we connected to a welcome gravel road. Interesting note, right before reaching the dirt road there's a flat opening that could easily accommodate 6-8 Delica for camping... :-D

Those are great pictures, David. Unfortunately I get to the perfect shot on the side of a 25 degree incline, I get that excellent angle where I have the inclinometer in the foreground, looking down the hill with this panoramic vista in the background, push the button and..... what happened? I look at the camera and the only thing I see is a flashing empty battery! This is not fair! These lithium batteries are supposed to last longer than this! Mind you the secondary on board camera, i.e.; my brain, is working excellently!

But what about that home made bumble berry pie ~ and what made that sooooo good was the driving up through the Hurley Pass... seeing the snow reminded me of Canada, that is the Canada that I know.

Sunday night we camped near Strawberry Point and woke up to a cool 06:00hrs on Monday morn. Making tea off the tailgate was a good start to the day :-D ! Having had that soak in the hot springs the day before (scrubbing my body with the exfoliating mud-sand), followed by the plunge in the Glacier fed Sloquet Creek (which was extremely enlivening, believe you, me) made the quest for Gold Bridge that much better.

I think climbing the Saddle on that wild de-activated road/path/track was a conquest in itself. Those two switch backs, especially the second one, were a challenge. Forward & backwards, forward & backwards, trying to get the angle right to make it up to the next corner.... Good thing we had our shovels with us, eh? Getting stuck in loose terrain, near the edge of a drop-off, then digging one's way back out can give one a sense of achievement :M .

I look forward to seeing a couple of videos. Speaking of which, did not the Profister crew have one of the convoy fording the stream on the Weaver Creek Road?

Keep the pictures coming, I'm going to get some new batteries and perhaps whine a little to London Drugs while I am at it!

Peace-out, Falco.

Here's a few videos of our weekend. I had a new toy, a camera mount for my dash... worked quite well!

These 2 shorts videos are on the West Harrisson Rd, just small puddle playing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7PJ0BcMbAQ

These next 2 videos are longer but it shows some of the cool trail that me and Falco found nearby Gold Bridge. In the first video it shows how we got to the next set of trails. It was a nice steep downhill with amazing view of the valley.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cPwNkY3_BI

This second video where Falco got stucked was a very steep climb on a ATV trail but we managed to get him back on the climb. Took a little shovel action but worked out fine. None of those big 4x4 truck could have made it there as it was too narrow for anything else than ATV and Delica! The ground was quite loose and at time the Delica would start to bounce up and down trying to get traction. Funny stuff!

I'd be tempted to post some of these pictures and videos under a separate post as it might be of interest to other enthusiasts Delica owners that might not see interest in looking into a past event... So if I find the time to double post don't shoot me for doing it! Unless you have suggestions?

Cheers,
David

Last clip was good.

Falco have his rear stab bar in place or did he take it out ? Doesn't look like much articulation.

Just like that. Boom. Stuck. I have a rear anti-sway bar but that is not what happened to me. All my feet were on the ground. I had good traction and in this case that was the problem. It was the ground that was moving when my wheels turned. My issue was how I perceived the corner: I had just taken a corner much like that one and I thought "no big deal" but I didn't pay enough attention to the surface difference and as you can see it happened really fast. I must take this moment to say something about David: He's a really good fellow to have around; very creative in thought pattern and a team worker. If I was there by myself I would have gotten out ~ but it would have taken me a lot longer. I trust David. We were digging and replacing much Earth and when I was operating the Miss Lil' Bitchi, David was digging, watching, directing and digging again. Going with someone is a definite plus. Shovels. Very important. I have a chainsaw, didn't "need" it on this trip (except for firewood and revenge on the neighbours ) but I have been in situations where if I didn't have it I would be swinging an axe at obstacles in the air that bounce when you make contact or an eighteen inch diameter log on the ground. Anyway, the more off road I go the more I learn and having a travelling mate like David makes the learning process more enjoyable.

Santé, David.

Falco.

Hey Pedro-Pierre and Mary, I was wondering why you didnot join the trip. Send us a PM Private Message with your phone number, so you can't wimp out next time.

Same with anyone else who doesnt regularly check this website, PM us a phone or your email, so we can contact you.

We plan to go out most weekends, till the skiing gets good.

Cheers, Christine and Jay of TardisDeli.
