So i have a question for you experienced diesel mechanics and shipping consultants or anyone who has an opinion.
So as you may or may not know from my previous posts i ran out of oil in mexico

and as a result I have shredded the 2nd rod bearing. http://www.delica.ca/Photos/albums/user ... ring_a.JPG nice!
and the crank shaft at the 2nd bearing is chewed pretty good.

The other rods and caps look to be fine, solid and not tainted black like the 2nd one.
so my choices;
1. only replace the 2nd bearing and get the crankshaft machined - price for a bearing not sure, getting that shipped here and machining the crankshaft out of town in pesos but not cheap so i am told? drive it home with fingers crossed.
or
2. replace the whole block, that Glenn has priced out a complete refurbished one for about $700, but getting here and i don't think you can bring it as 'carry on'.

or
3. like Christine suggested towing it home, which could entail buying a vehicle and trailer for $2500-4000 or having an angel fall onto my lap that would be going north with an empty flatbed and there is a remote chance of that with a conversation i had last nite.
on the brighter side this little town that i now reside is gorgeous. I have landed a job selling timeshares,

Thanks for your continued support.
