Re: Meeting in Calgary???
So, is anyone making a decision? Alright, I'll take the bull by the horn. Let's make it Sunday 12 August, so that Adrock can easily make it by coming up Saturday. I like Jungle Jon's idea, so we'll go with that.
Location to meet: Hwy 1 and Hwy 68 (Sibbald) at 10:00 AM. Actually just a km or 2 south on 68 by the Transportation Dept garages. (Hwy 68 is about 25 km east of Hwy 40 [Kananaskis], and about 17 km west of Hwy 22.)
The plan: drive west on 68 to Sibbald Flats, then south on Powderface Trail, a wonderfully twisty 30 km gravel road through the forest with mountains on either side that leads down to the paved Hwy 66. Then east towards Bragg Creek. We can either stop there, or turn right about 9 km before Bragg Creek and go into McLean Creek Off Highway Vehicle area to do 4x4ing for those who dare/want to.
I might not be there, but this is the plan.
Votes anyone? Are you coming? Yah/nay

Sounds good to me, count me in.
One thing though, the transportation garages/weigh scale, are they accessible westbound? If memory serves me, they are only accessible to eastbound traffic. Can anyone confirm? If that is the case, how about the petrocan at Hwy 1 and 22 as an alternate?

I wasn't referring to the weighscales on Hwy 1. The spot I'm thinking of is on Hwy 68, a kilometre or two south of Hwy 1 (TransCanada). There is a big DofT/Alberta Roads or something garage and depot there. Should be plenty of space to pull off.Jungle Jon wrote:Sounds good to me, count me in.One thing though, the transportation garages/weigh scale, are they accessible westbound? But yes, the PetroCanada is certainly a posibility. I was just thinking of sparing pedro a longer drive than necessary. But we'd never get away from the Petrocan, 'cause we'd be to busy answering questions

But if we don't get some more people signing up, is there any point to not just meeting for coffee in town? Not like Green1 and I don't see each other often enough!

Re: Meeting in Calgary???
there is no weigh scale (as mentioned earlier) it's an alberta transportation highway maintenance yard, and it's about a kilometer south of highway 1 on highway 68. 10AM on sunday.
