Some upgrades...
Don’t know if this topic belongs here but I just wanted to share some of the upgrades that "The Beast II” will go through next week...
Oil filter, Fuel filter, air filter
Timing belt, Balance shaft belt, Timing belt tensioner
Balance shaft belt tensioner, alternator drive belt, Power steering belt, A/C belt
water pump
Valve cover gasket set
Radiator cap
Thermostat
block heater
Lower radiator hose, Upper radiator hose
Camshaft oil seal, Crankshaft oil seal, Upper balance shaft oil seal, Lower balance shaft oil seal
Injection pump front seal
Can’t wait to see if there is going to be a difference or not... nevertheless, It will be safer to drive and without worries!!!

Use red locktight on the outer edge of the seals to set them in the housing. They often want to work their way out. Use some brakeclean to clean mating surfaces to remove any oil.

If you replace all the listed parts and want to save some $ in the long run, I would recommend to do the radiator at the same time as well. Otherwise you would still have one unknown old component in your very important cooling system.

Quickest effect will be from new air filter, new radiator cap, check and inflate tire pressure, load test battery, top up all fluids. Do them now. cheers Christine.

Radiator, I was suggested to take it out and get it steamed and fully cleaned up. Air filter and radiator is already done... pretty easy... Did not realize that the fuel filter was so big... and the air filter as well... really? That big?

Replacing the whole cooling system but not the rad is like putting 3 new tires on your L300 and keeping an old one on. On the L400's, not so much, but the cooling system is very important on the 2.5 in the L300's.
Over the years, this forum/Delica community has seen many overheated engines/cracked heads because the radiator was no replaced when it should have been.
Just a heads up. Would be a shame to see you do all of that work and leave one of the most important cooling components out.

Got the Deli at Kirkham Auto on Horton St, Calgary. Brent seem to know a lot about our vans and also he is very nice to deal with. He actually suggested to have the rad refurbish entirely because the new ones are not made as sturdy as the original ones. In the end it’s going to be the same result as if it would be new, but original parts.
I just want to say for all of you around the Calgary region, Kirkham is the place to go. I have learned that sometimes it’s not worth trying to save a few bucks here and there. I’d rather pay a little bit more for someone that will give me good advise, good service and do a good job, therefore no worries on the long run.
Next thing is to get a propane tank setup outside the van... any ideas?

Not sure how your camper Delica looks underneath, but if you have the rear AC and heater at the same place as a regular l300 this might be a good area for a tank. I took it out last week and it opened up a quite large space. How long did it take to remove the rear heater core?
Just curious but do you loose some cooling effeciency when you remove the rear core or does the coolant only circulate back there when the controls are on hot?

Not very long at all, you only need to make sure a AC shop took the pressure off your system and also you need a hose and fittings to loop the coolant.
I don't think I'll loose much cooling effect as the heater core is tiny. You can see a few photos of the heater/AC assemply on my website: http://dinoevo.de/gallery/photos/recent-photos/
The core is hot all the time and the rear heater switches just regulate the airflow and not the coolant. In the end I'm going to put my Diesel heater and coolant hot water tank there which fit nicely.

Propane tank:
On my conversion van a few years ago I had to change the tank out to certify the van (the plate that said it was a propane tank feel off). I got one from a wrecker paid $50.00 and changed out the taps for around $50.00 each.
Depends on the camping you do. But if you go with a mounted tank you need to take the whole van to fill up (also technically it will need a propane inspection and sticker before they will fill it).
If you go with an BBQ style tank you do not need the van to fill it (I use my campers as bases sometimes for my work so this is an advantage for me). I am planning to mount my BBQ tank to the tire swing on the back (if I go to propane...still solving the heater/furnace issue).
