DRL mod
Having surfed through the forums and getting ideas for my Daytime Running Lights, I chose to use some ideas based on Jesse's work. I got some LEDs off ebay for $5 and glued them into my headlights when I was changing the lenses. I ran a power line off the accessory in the cabin by the fuse block and out along the shifter cable, through a 10A inline fuse and then to my power side of my LEDs and then grounded to the frame.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Don

Re: DRL mod
Just a quick question,
Are these legal to use as DRL (I realize Audi and others have approved versions of) but as I am getting my new Deli ready for OOP I want to be sure this is not going to be an issue. I love the look as I have seen a couple of them done now and I will likely do it anyway but I just want to be sure it is going to pass with just the LED's as DRL's in the headlight housing.
Thanks
Brent

Re: DRL mod
So long as you do not modify the glass, yes. There is an additional bulb/port for a DRL as well but the LED strips are the preferred method.

Re: DRL mod
This is a fantastic mod for anyone installing DRLs - especially now that so many cheap LED options are available now. And they hardly draw any current. My kids call it the angry Jasper. Here are my results:

Re: DRL mod
I was just reading through these threads and saw this one. I was thinking that looks like the LEDs that are in the van I just bought, wait, that is the van I just bought! haha.
Anyhow, the LEDs in the original post no longer work. Not sure if they were just of cheap quality, or the heat from the other lights damaged them, but just keep this in mind if you are thinking of doing the same setup. If they burn out, they are difficult to change. Might be better to mount them somewhere not in the headlight.

Re: DRL mod
Good point.
If/when these burn out, I thought I would just abandon the ones inside the lights and mount new ones externally like others are doing. You could also just install a DRL module for that matter. That's the thing with most of the LED DRLs, no matter where you mount them - you generally have to replace the whole unit when there are any problems, not just a bulb.

DRL mod
I went with a normal relay to the fuse and ignition. The drl relays seem to burn out easy.

Check the fuse box It will tell you which to splice into. Can't remember now.
