L300 Turbo oil pump

Post by Pokey »

Hey guys my L300 Turbo oil pump is pooched. I phoned around and people were surprised mine failed. The shops all said they would get back to me but no one has one on the spot. (lower mainland) But it is sunny today...

Was down in westport when my Deli started growling at me. Thought it was the alternator bearing but pulled it out and it spun fine (pain in the butt, but thanks forums for helpful tips). took the oil pump out and apart, sure enough metal chips inside. :( The filter in the banjo looks okay, hopefully the turbo is spared.

The surf was good so I still count the weekend for a win (plus two more for the canucks)

I think I will get the alternator rebuilt because I don't want to be in there again anytime soon.

If anyone has one I can pick it up today

Some pics, because everyone likes pics.

Dundee Electrical in Langley was able to get a new Alternator (made in Canada) WITH the oil pump and all Banjo fittings for $385, got it this morning and had it all installed and finished before rain started :) Pokey's back in action and supported local businesses.

Do you have a part number or brand/model?

I'm having my Alternator rebuilt at Brighouse Auto Electrics in Richmond right now. The price will be $165 and takes about half a day to complete.

I've been using them since we got our Pajero (same alternator).

They didn't even blink when I dropped mine off. Just said come back in 2 days and pick it up.

Thanks jfarsang, it was your posting that I read. It was funny when I gave him the alternator... he was surprised that it was ANOTHER Delica. I told him about the forum, and he laughed, he had no idea. I guess a few other people have followed your recommendation.

Part number is ALT-V026, which comes up on the interweb as a UNIPOINT part number. They are not Canadian, so I must have been mistaken, maybe he meant Canadian distributor.

They were running a viper SRT-10 in the bay when I arrived, pretty good sounding engine. No diesel clacky-clack mind you.

Same thing happened to me when i dropped mine off at Brighouse 2 days ago. I put it down, the guy said, "oh, another one of those right hand drive Delica's. That's going to cost $165" :-D
