Wanted ECU for 92 L-300

I now require an ECU for a 92 L-300 exceed with the 6.2V glow plugs.
Are there any members out there parting vans?? Please pm details.

Call up Butch at CVI, he did have rebuilt ones . Thats where I got mine. You might want to change out your temp sensor as well to see if that is the issue.

i aswell require a 92 l300 ecu i see one corroded diode? Might try replacing myself, not exactly a professional though! Anyone else have rebuilts for trade in, i was just at cvi there fresh out and im sick of smoking out the neighborhood/jobsite/grocery store getting a lot of stink eyes

Hope someone can help you out.
Everyone seems to be hush- hush on how to troubleshoot these.
Like to thank John for trying to help the garage that is working on my van by supplying an ECU, but it was not compatible.
Hope we can get some help from someone on how to get this going. I am quite aware that the other shops in B.C have put allot of time in figuring out how these work, just hope some will help out a shop that is 800kms away from them get this running. :-(
If we can get a schematic for the ECU I might be able to get mine fixed. If this happens I will gladly share the info on where to get them fixed.

Whenever we got this kind of article from delica owners in remote area, we are thinking about making built-in( plug-in ) system ( of course , from our own control system ) to replace a broken Mitsubishi unit ( It cost around $1200 from part importers ) at a reasonable price.
We hopefully make plug-in ( to your van ) system in future.
We will see.

I was going to put a Mercedes controller in mine when it goes (you can get them new for around $100-175).

It has a temperature input and runs the plugs for up to 3 minutes after it is started. It has a 80 amp fuse built in and serves as the relays as well. Simple and well built.

would you leave the old ECU in to controll whatever else it does, if it does anything else, or would you remove and replace with mercedes controller?

I would have to look at the wiring diagram I assume it does nothing else?

I would pull it all out.

then wire the temperature sensor to the Mercedes, wire the glow light (add if needed like mine), add large fused 100amp power wire, and an ignition switch, plus a switch to turn off the glow plugs (for those times you want to turn on ignition to roll a window but not charge the glow plugs). Then wire the individual plugs to the controller (makes finding bad glow plugs easier if wired individually) Wiring on the Mercedes unit is simple (have not dealt with the Delica system yet as mine starts so no need yet).

I would strip out all the interior, wiring and maybe the engine. Remove the transmission and suspension, maybe the glass also. Sell the remaining body shell and all the removed components then go out and buy a mercedes with the money gained from selling your Delica in pieces. That would cure the starting problem and install a mercedes glow plug system at the same time :shock:

If you had your daily driver sitting at a shop for over a month you would be antsy too.
The shop also said they were in contact with you. I Just want my flipping van back :evil:

Why not just get one from CCAutos and install that one. He said in a post above that they have them in stock for $150. Not sure what the issue is. Shipping shouldn't be much.

Sorry I just look at vehicles different...If I am going to go to the trouble to replace something why not use a superior part?

I do my own work (frame up builds, motors, automatics whatever) and my own fab work.

I am not suggesting an engine swap just a changing an ECU to better designed system. We are talking like 8 wires to get it done and then you can get a controller anywhere in the world including North America.

There are more wires on the stereo...but people seem to be ok with changing that? I would have to do some timing comparisons for glow plug times (Mercedes runs the plugs for at 12Votls for 8 sec and then for 3 minutes at 12 volts on a cold motor I think). (There is also a 5th terminal to run an intake air warmer out of a modern Cummins which would be nice for those real cold starts.)


But for plug and play sure the stock one is easier.

The biggest problem we have as a shop is that when you get away from a factory set up (which works very well) diagnosis becomes very difficult especially when the owner has not installed it themselves. A DIY install is good so long as you understand what has been done and why but for someone who does not carryout their own repairs and relies upon a repair shop to do maintenance it can end up costing more to repair than usual trying to work out what someone else was thinking when it was installed. Everyday drivers that don`t want to be laying under there vehicle `tinkering` = stock system. For the enthusiastic DIY deli owners = go crazy with the installs !!!!
I have seen many different variations on glow plug modifications and I still maintain that fixing the original system gives the best results. Any L300 will start up to -10 degrees without a block heater. Any colder than that it needs a block heater but still starts no problem.
ECU -$150 Glow plugs $36each (Mitsubishi) and a new temperature sender (Mitsubishi) $58. Total of $350 and the stock system is rebuilt and working like new.
