o-rings

Post by psilosin »

So what kind of store would a guy call when looking for a specific o-ring? Hydraulic shop? I need a specific size o-ring, hopefully made of viton, for my surf's injection pump that isn't available from Toyota anymore.

Lauren did the same thing on his Surf before the whipsaw trip last year.
Last minute his IP leaked like a siv so he pulled it apart and walked into a Lordco and matched it to the closest one.
said it was a tight fit but worked well

Hmmm I always seem to have as much luck at Lordo as I do at CdnTire here in Penticton. My prediction when I ask 'Do you have a selection of o-rings?' will be met with 'ummmm...wait what? ho rings? Wrong store buddy...I'd try at the mall at the jewlery store'

There are only so many types of IPs on the market, Psilosin and they tend to follow the same pattern as I understand. I would think that a seal kit for another IP of the same type would likely work, at least for the most part ~ and there's got to be after market kits. The Delica Injection Pumps are VE pumps, where the injection tubes leave the pump in a square formation (::) but there are also in-line IPs (....). Do you know what the OEM number is for your Surf's IP? Which motor is it ~ 2.4; 2.8; 3.0?

is not acceptable for a seal. It works and seals or does not and leaks.

Confirmed with Lauren and his surf. Lordco off the shelve o-ring. Matched to size and viton brand. Generic part.

If you can't find it, I'll bet Sabir has one to fit.

Not sure on the size you need, but Harbour Freight in Bellingham will sell you an entire box of o-rings of all sizes for between $7 for nitrile, to $20 for viton. Might get lucky...

cOOl cOol. Thanks for all the options. Sounds like finding this o-ring should be easy like a Staples EZ Button.

Or easy like a ...

Lordco was great when I was looking for an o-ring for my bypass filter adapter. I bought 3 sizes that all fit and picked the one that seemed best when fitted. You just need to tell the kid (and by kid I mean person around my age :-D ) behind the counter that you are positive they sell them. 8-)
