1991 L300 DIESEL CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD ???

Post by SunshineCoastMark »

Hey guys, looks like I might have cracked cylinder head, did a compression test, seems fine, no white smoke, just top rad hose gets bloated shortly after I start the engine and spills coolant into the reservoir tank.
Is there anything else that can be done to narrow down the cause of this problem.
If it is a cracked head , where should I buy one , should I stay away from cheap aftermarket heads, any help will be much appreciated , thanks.

Check to see if there is oil in the coolant, or coolant in the water.

You may be able to inspect the engine with a probe cam.

It sounds more like you coolant system is clogged to me - that the pipe gets bloated and overflowing into the reservoir suggest to me a coolant blockage.

Run the engine with the rad cap off, if you get bubbles or a fountain of coolant, cracked head or gasket...

Sounds like you just may need to bleed the cooling system.
