I took one off a ford windstar at pick and pull. Looks good and works. You will have to drill some holes in your roof though.... I used a special sheet metal bender (knee) to bend the track where it slopes down over the drivers head.

hmmm don't like the sounds of that... drilling holes that is maybe when i've had it for a while hahaha drilling holes in the roof of your new truck just doesn't feel rite for some reason

It is just 10 or 12 holes..... how bad could that be? I used aircraft nutserts installed wet with structural epoxy. Works great.

I did the exact same as Doug - matter of fact, I think I did mine before he did - LOL... I used an Aerostar rack.

Obviously you can't use a gutter mount, since there are no gutters. Thule does make one, but only avail in the UK, and they won't deal with us in Canada (I tried). I even tried convincing them to send me only the foot pack, so I could get the rest of the bits here. No dice. They didn't want to play.

Once you have the rails on from your favorite Ford, you can get tracker feet from Thule, along with crossbars etc, and have a very nice setup. That was my plan, but I only got as far as the rails, and then got a newer Pajero. With gutters.

you could probably get one of the brits on this board to buy and ship them to you, or you could just find the #s of a couple stores there and call them directly, there has got to be at least one that wont mind shipping it for you.

Installing them wet is when you put them in I used structural epoxy that had not set up yet. This way once it is installed the epoxy hardens and provides additional holding power and seals the nutsert into the body of your vehicle.

did you even need to remove the head liner in the truck to do this??

so after you drilled the hole you applied the epoxy to the top of the hole, and then inserted the nutsert?

is structural epoxy different then a marine grade, 2 part that you''d find at any hardware store?

ok so i've made progress today i went to the wreckers and found a roof rack (rails and cross bars) from a 2000 Nissan Frontier.... these also seem to be identical to the rails and cross bars from a chevy blazer or a GMC Jimmy!! (from the 2 door not the 4 door) it cost me $50 with all the parts.... i just ordered Nutserts from Lordco for cheap (thanks bae146!!)
and i think i'll be using sicaflex as a sealer with a spot of red threadlock on stainless steel bolts that i found at Home Depot

i'll mount it next week and will post pics up in the new year!!!

Well IT's CHRISTMAS!!! and i got the camera i was hoping for!! (Olympus.. Its shockproof, dust proof, waterproof AKA OFFROADING-PROOF!!!)


so i figured i'd test it out on my roof rack that i installed the other day

it went really well and turned out great!! here it is

i got ten (rubber sealing style) nutserts from lordco for $10.60
and ten Stainless bolts and washers from Home Depot for about $6
(bought 10 of everything for spares but only needed 8 sets)

ya i just don't think that your style would work on my truck (SWB) because i don't have the rain gutters to clamp on too...

but i do like the look of yours!!!
