Rainy Day Long Weekend

Rather than hitting the wet tent sites we did some different things.

Got up and took the canoe off the roof. I found a super cheap $150
from a friend of a friend aluminum Grunman (s?) 16ft canoe.
Boy is it light!!! I can lift it up top easy on my own.

Then took the seals out of the sliders in the windows and
got rid of the rust and sealed them with POR15. I was getting
tired of that rust water stain. All except the rear right window.
I could do one side by the rear one is locked in. Only one
slides in that one. Any easy way to get it out guys?
Took out a few rust spots from stone chips.

We went geocaching and had some fun since the forecasted
rain hadn't arrived yet.

Then after it started to rain went to the garage and was working
on my little trailer. We extended the little thing another 6 " to each
side and the front. Then put all new corners (rounded 1/8" steel)
Gave the silly thing a 6" lift since it was wayyyy too low. I think
it was originally for a small low car. I painted it black (framework)
and then the sides/front are 1/2" treated plywood with white puckboard
on the outer sides and stained on the inside. Looks pretty sweet.
The sides are 14" high. I didn't want a big trailer. The cool thing
is the color scheme is black frame with white sides. Matches
our white/black Delica.

Can't wait to finish it... it's soo close. Even put on cool LED lights
etc. The tail gate is going to be aluminum checker plate on the 3/4
plywood. A little different than white puckboard but I didn't want to
use that there.

(now to look at getting a new throwout bearing for the clutch),
do the rust spots from the stone chips in a more permanent way,
create a pcv valve oil catch can, redo the rubber for the hoses
on the turbo and... hmm i think there was another thing.. oh
yah, do the master cylinder for the clutch.
Fun... how much do you think i can on my own.. all except the
throwout bearing thing I think...

Throwout bearings are not impossible for the average back yard mechanic! I've changed numerous bearings in my standard trans. Good time to check/change your clutch too, seeing as you have it all apart. Purchase at Chrysler parts dept, Lordco or B&J parts in Po Co(85 Dodge ram 4D55).

Actually that's what we did when we did the flywheel in the fall.
Used the Dodge Ram clutch at the same time. Except the throwout
bearing isn't the same. Which is why we had to use the old one.

I'll source one of those.
