Tested the glow plugs, all were fine. I managed to fix the problem! I sprayed the internals alternatively with brake cleaner and WD40, and forced the moving parts with a pair of pliers. After about a dozen rinses, the part moved - and after a dozen more, it moved smoothly. The latch was reinstalled without a problem.
