Re: Rear Diff Seal

I've been searching to see if I can find a diff manual, but haven't had any luck. You should beware that if this isn't done properly you will severely damage or destroy your diff. The basic steps to change the pinion seal are: - lift and secure the vehicle off the ground in neutral, no park brake, d...

Re: Rear Diff Seal

I'm not sure if those LSD types use a crush collar or hard spacer for the pinion shaft. However, tightening the pinion nut will not solve your issue and if it does use a crush collar you'll do some damage to the pinion/ring gear and pinion bearings. The pinion seal will have to be replaced. Also che...

I'm interested in hearing what you find.

I think it will be a combination of issues, hopefully none of which will be hard to track down.

Re: An interesting electrical problem...

You have a cross feed. Somewhere there has probably been 2 hot leads wired into one load, explaining why the squealy thingy is happening when the dome fuse is pulled and the light switch is on. The most likely culprit is the stereo. A lot of people use a meter to find a ground, but if they inadverte...

Re: An interesting electrical problem...

Ah yes, the phantom circuit. The phantom circuit only differs from a short in that the phantom circuit shorts after a load. If a short is ahead of the load, then the fuse would blow, because a direct short jumps the amps thru the roof. A phantom circuit is after the load and the battery drains throu...

Re: (DRL)Light and RPM issue

Install a diode on the hot wire to the headlights. When the headlights are manually switched on it will backfeed through the ignition when the key is turned off. If you also wire the relay through the park brake warning light system the lights will only come on if the park brake is off, this is very...

Re: Hi, my name is Tim and I have a problem...

Roger that on the standard transmission. I have a standard it really does suck down the fuel and at low highway speeds. Bigger tires help, but they are very low geared. Go with the automatic. I just got back from a trip to Alberta and back, I haven't tabulated it all as far as fuel/kilometers go, bu...

Re: Wells Gray Provincial Park...???

I worked as a raft guide on the clearwater river, which is in wells grey park, for several years. If you can shell out the bucks the river run is one of the best in BC, however the water will be on the low side just now. For some out of the way camping go up the river road on the south side of the p...

Re: Headlight Headache

It may be worthwhile to check your alternator output voltage, if the regulator is allowing higher voltages than normal it will cause the problem.

Re: Rear pinoin input seal

Check to see if the vent on the rear axle is plugged with mud. If you off road alot the vent will get plugged so when the diff gets hotter and needs to vent off the expanding air it has no where to go other than the path of least resistance - out the seal. You'll probably still need a new seal if th...
